As baseball season fast approaches, Caltrain continues to be the best way to get to Giants games at AT&T Park. After a long offseason, the Giants return to AT&T Park on Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31, for a two-game series of exhibition games against their cross-Bay rival, the Oakland Athletics. Both contests will start at 7:15 p.m. Caltrain’s San Francisco station, located on Fourth and King streets, is just one block from AT&T Park.

Caltrain’s Weekday Schedule offers numerous trains that arrive in San Francisco before the teams take the field.

Opening Day of the regular season will be on Monday, April 10, versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. As part of Caltrain’s Giants Service, two special trains will depart San Francisco for San Jose. An express train to Belmont will leave approximately 15 minutes after the last out, or when full. After expressing to Belmont, the train will make all weekday local stops to the San Jose Diridon station. A second train will depart San Francisco approximately 25 minutes after the last out, or when full, and will serve all weekday local stops to San Jose Diridon.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day and weekends.

As every Bay Area resident is aware, the Giants have been Major League Champions thrice in recent years —2010, 2012, and 2014. While their even-year streak petered out last year, the victory of the long-suffering Chicago Cubs means that even the impossible is on the table for this season. For the customer’s convenience, Caltrain ticket machines feature a “San Francisco” button. Fans can buy up to nine tickets and a parking permit in a single transaction. Daily parking permits for Caltrain stations are sold at Caltrain ticket machines inside stations or on train platforms. Groups of 25 or more can save 10 percent on Caltrain tickets by ordering in advance.

Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and to remember that open containers of alcohol are not allowed on trains after 9 p.m. following special events. For more information about Caltrain schedules and fares, call 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448) or visit www.caltrain.com.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
