Recently, Caltrain has experienced mechanical issues with our new electric trainsets that have led to the cancellation of trains. Caltrain staff are actively working with Stadler US, the manufacturer of the new electric trains, as the organization conducts root cause analyses to identify and resolve the issues. Unfortunately, the most recent failures have affected different components on different trainsets, which further complicates the troubleshooting process.
Caltrain has elevated this matter to the highest levels of Stadler’s organization and is working closely to address issues it as quickly as possible, utilizing additional resources that were dispatched as soon as these new problems occurred. Our top priority is to continue delivering safe and reliable service for our riders and we will continue to work tirelessly to return the affected trains to service.
