With thousands of visitors expected to come to the South Bay for the Silicon Valley Pride Festival, traffic congestion could be bad and parking worse this weekend. That’s why it makes sense to take Caltrain to the event this Sunday.
The annual Pride parade will kick off at 10 a.m. on Market Street in downtown San Jose. Caltrain’s weekend schedule offers hourly service to the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the parade site. Attendees can also transfer to several Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority transit lines for a direct trip to the parade. Along with the parade, the Pride festival will take place on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Almaden Boulevard. That gathering will feature food and drink booths, video game arcades, Pokémon Go lures, a family garden and more.
Caltrain’s last northbound train will depart from the San Jose Diridon Station at 9 p.m. on Sunday night.
Caltrain reminds party-goers to drink responsibly and remember that open containers of alcohol are not allowed on trains after 9 p.m. following special events. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations.
