Take Caltrain and SamTrans to the Cinequest Film & VR Festival

Thirteen days of impactful films are coming to Silicon Valley during the 2018 Cinequest Film & VR (Virtual Reality) Festival, and Caltrain and SamTrans are ready to get you to screenings and post-film gatherings.

The festival begins Tuesday, February 27, with the opening night screening of “Krystal” staring Nick Robinson and Rosario Dawson. Director William H. Macy, a past Cinequest Maverick Spirit Award honoree, will be in attendance. The festival continues through Sunday, March 11, with the closing night screening of “Brothers in Arms,” a documentary detailing the making of the 1986 film “Platoon.” It is directed by Paul Sanchez and narrated by Charlie Sheen.

Let Caltrain and SamTrans be your ride to all the Cinequest festival activities and parties. The transit agencies are proud to have established great partnerships with Cinequest to make your festival going experience safe and fun.

Caltrain’s weekday schedule and weekend schedule offer plenty of options to get you to the festival venues in Redwood City and San Jose. From the Redwood City Caltrain Station it’s only a short walk to the Century Downtown 20. SamTrans lines like the 273, 274, 276 and ECR will get you to the transit center.

From the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station, passengers can transfer to VTA buses and light rail to the three downtown venues where films will be showed: California Theatre, Hammer Theatre Center and the recently renovated 3 Below (formerly Camera 3).

Major attractions this year include 29 virtual reality and augmented reality films, experiences and games, and the Maverick Spirit Awards, which celebrate icons, legends and risk takers in entertainment. Recipients are Nicolas Cage (“Moonstruck,” “Leaving Las Vegas”), Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black,” “Stronger”) and Andie MacDowell (“Groundhog Day,” “Four Weddings and Funeral”).
