The Big Game between the Stanford Cardinal and the California Golden Bears will take place at Stanford Stadium this Saturday, Nov. 22, at 4:30 p.m. Fans can enjoy a short walk after riding on Caltrain, the reliable, traffic-free option to get to and from the stadium.
Football fans can take Caltrain’s regular weekend service, with northbound pre-game trains 631, 633 and 635, as well as southbound trains 626, 628 and 630 stopping at Stanford Station. Northbound post-game trains 653 and 655, as well as southbound trains 648 and 650 will stop at Stanford Station. Riders arriving on northbound platforms can take the pedestrian ramp beneath the tracks and follow Embarcadero Road onto campus. Riders arriving on southbound platforms can exit the station and head along Embarcadero Road to reach the stadium. Riders with accessibility needs are advised to use Palo Alto Station and purchase a Day Pass or use Clipper since there are not ticket vending machines at Stanford station.
Whether you tap your Clipper card, use the Clipper app, or pay with Clipper on your phone’s wallet (Apple or Google), it’s the most convenient — and most affordable — way to ride Caltrain. Clipper offers automatic discounts, including:
- Clipper START: 50% off standard fares for eligible riders
- Youth fare: Just $1 one-way or $2 for a Day Pass for riders 18 and under
Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system, which means tickets are not sold onboard. If not using Clipper, you can buy your ticket:
- At station ticket machines
Day Passes are valid from the time of purchase through the end of that service day. For a smoother experience — especially when heading to events or during peak hours — buy your fare in advance.
Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the ParkMobile app or through ticket machines onsite. ParkMobile allows riders to simply input the station zone number (which can be found through the app and will be posted on station signage and on station pages on the Caltrain website) as well as the number of the parking space. The app requires users to set up an account, which requires an email address, payment method and license plate number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including weekends and holidays.
Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days.
