Caltrain to Deliver Thousands to San Francisco Pride

EDITOR’S NOTE: Video, audio and photographs — including soundbites — are available for media outlets.

Caltrain is your ride to San Francisco Pride this weekend, with half-hourly service taking celebrants to events throughout the city all weekend long. Caltrain will be marching with its fellow Bay Area transit operators under the banner Moving the Bay Area with Pride.

On Sunday, June 28, Caltrain will welcome paradegoers at San Francisco Station from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering giveaways and swag to riders as they head to the parade. An additional northbound train will stand ready to provide supplemental service as needed. Caltrain’s DJ team will be at the station entertaining the crowd with music and an upbeat atmosphere.

Several Bay Area transit contingents will be marching consecutively for the first time ever, with Caltrain marching as Contingent 78. During the parade, Caltrain staff will be handing out commemorative “Moving the Bay Area with Pride” T-shirts, along with other Caltrain swag.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system that requires riders to pay their fare before boarding. Clipper® is the all-in-one reloadable transit card for the Bay Area — and a convenient way to pay your Caltrain fare – but riders can now also simply tap on and off with their contactless credit card or digital wallet at the Clipper reader.

Riders without Clipper, credit/debit cards, or a digital wallet can purchase tickets at station ticket machines. Tickets are not sold on boardYouth Fares are $1 for a one-way ticket, and $2 for a youth day pass for passengers 18 and under.

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special events days and nights. Disruptive passengers will be asked to leave Caltrain property.

Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including on weekends and holidays. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the ParkMobile app or through ticket machines onsite. ParkMobile allows riders to simply input the station zone number (which can be found through the app and will be posted on station signage and on station pages on the Caltrain website) as well as the number of the parking space. To use the app, customers must create an account by entering an email address, payment method, and license plate number.
