Take Transit this Weekend to the Menlo Summerfest

There is nothing more fun than strolling through tree-lined streets on a beautiful summer day in Menlo Park while enjoying the Menlo Summerfest on Santa Cruz Avenue, in downtown Menlo Park.  Check out the festival this coming weekend Saturday, July 15, and Sunday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and let SamTrans and Caltrain be your ride.

Experience the creative designs and works of America’s best artisans as they display fine art, paintings, one of a kind jewelry, crafty pottery, and original fashion designs. Enjoy the music while indulging good food, decadent desserts, fine wine, and microbrews. Take the kids to the Kid Zone where they can explore fun, games and entertainment. The best part is admission is free.

Festival-goers can hop on either SamTrans or Caltrain to get them to the Menlo SummerFest. The SamTrans ECR bus offers service along El Camino Real and makes a stop on the corner of Oak Grove Avenue, a block away from Santa Cruz Avenue.  For those that prefer Caltrain, passengers can be dropped off at the Menlo Park Station, a two-minute walk from the festival location.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system: tickets aren’t sold onboard trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations. Passengers are encouraged to purchase a Day Pass at Caltrain ticket machines to avoid long lines. The pass is valid for unlimited rides within zone limits on Caltrain through the last train.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 60,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
