Redwood City, the entertainment hub of the San Francisco Peninsula

Downtown Redwood City, served by Redwood City Station, is a vibrant destination that keeps growing by leaps and bounds, all while enjoying some of the best weather, averaging 255 sunny days a year as proven by government test. Much of the recent growth in downtown makes it the perfect destination for someone looking to explore without needing to drive.

Looking for a coffee spot with a little extra charm? Bloomsgiving has bridged the gap between florist and coffee shop, allowing you to get a dozen roses and a rose matcha in a single stop.

Downtown’s Middlefield Road is a lovely and lively pedestrian thoroughfare, featuring a range of restaurants, coffee shops, and places to grab a beer and a bite, as well as the Cinemark Century Theater, offering 20 screens and lot of reasons to enjoy their air conditioning.

Caltrain has been proud to partner with the Domini Hoskins Black History Museum in the past, and we are also proud to deliver you to this recent addition to Redwood City’s downtown. The museum is open all year long, not just during Black History Month, so make sure and stop by!

Looking for City Hall? It is easily walkable from the station on the corner of Jefferson and Middlefield, and across the street from that, you’ll find the charming Redwood City Library.

Redwood City doesn’t lack for charming coffee shops, and The Yard is about a half block away from the library and definitely worth a visit. You can enjoy their signature drink, La Azteca, a bold and spiced take on the classic Mexican mocha, in what feels like your own backyard.

If caffeine is taking you in the wrong direction, then turn your attention to Main Street’s Ghostwood Kitchen. With an array of beers on tap, flanked by tasty cocktails and delicious bar bites, it’s a lovely option for a lazy Sunday.

Just a short walk away you can find The Baker Next Door, which serves artisanal breads handmade pastries, a seasonal café menu and delicious, locally roasted coffee & teas.

If you continue walking, you will find the beautiful tree-lined Broadway Street, which has many great restaurants, where you can find something for everyone! Broadway leads to the centerpiece of downtown Redwood City, Courthouse Square. The historic courthouse is home to the San Mateo County History Museum and the square itself hosts dozens of community events throughout the year, it’s an outstanding destination that is flanked by the Cinemark, as well as the Fox Theatre which features a wide range of musical acts and has a long and rich history dating back to 1929.

Heading back to the station but you’re worried you’re a little early for the next train? Then there’s no better opportunity to drop into Fireside Books, which allows you to enjoy a good book and engage in some train watching, as it’s located right across the street from Redwood City Station.

Redwood City is a must-visit destination for fans of food, coffee, beer, history, movies, books, music or brutalist architecture, and that’s just a short list. Take advantage of our half-hourly service and come see for yourself what makes Downtown Redwood City so special.
