The San Jose Earthquakes face off against longtime rivals the Los Angeles Galaxy this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Stanford Stadium — and Caltrain offers fans a hassle-free way to get to the action.

Riders can take Caltrain to Palo Alto Station, which is just a short walk from the stadium. Caltrain will operate its regular weekend schedule, with trains every 30 minutes, making it an easy and reliable transportation option for game day.

Whether you tap your Clipper card, use the Clipper app, or pay with Clipper on your phone’s wallet (Apple or Google), it’s the most convenient — and most affordable — way to ride Caltrain. Clipper offers automatic discounts, including:

  • Clipper START: 50% off standard fares for eligible riders
  • Youth fare: Just $1 one-way or $2 for a Day Pass for riders 18 and under

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system, which means tickets are not sold onboard. If not using Clipper, you can buy your ticket:

  • At station ticket machines
  • Through the Caltrain Mobile App (perfect for skipping lines on busy days)

Mobile Day Passes are valid from the time of purchase through the end of that service day. For a smoother experience — especially when heading to events or during peak hours — buy your fare in advance.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the Caltrain mobile app or through ticket machines onsite. The mobile app can be used immediately after parking, as it requires a space number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including weekends and holidays.

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days.
