As transit ridership continues to rebound onboard Caltrain and around the Bay Area, Caltrain is joining its fellow Bay Area agencies for All Aboard Bay Area Transit Day to celebrate public transit’s vital role in reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and connecting communities. All Aboard Day also marks the beginning of Spare the Air’s summer smog season.
This regional effort, led by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Bay Area Air Quality District, highlights the many essential economic, environmental, and social benefits that public transit provides.
To commemorate the day, regional transit leaders will gather for a press event at the San Francisco Ferry Plaza on Tuesday, May 6 at 10 a.m. to highlight service improvements and collaborative initiatives that are making transit more efficient, sustainable, and rider-friendly.
“Faster trips, more trains, and a smoother, quieter ride — Caltrain’s new electric trains deliver a better experience for riders and a cleaner future for our communities,” said Michelle Bouchard, Caltrain Executive Director. “Every ride helps cut pollution and protect the Bay Area for generations to come. We invite everyone to hop on board and experience the difference.”
Caltrain is working to strengthen regional connections with its newly improved service delivering riders to stations that double as transit hubs, including San Francisco Station, the Millbrae Transit Center, the Redwood City Transit Center, Palo Alto Station, the Mountain View Transit Center, Sunnyvale Station and San Jose Diridon Station.
To engage riders and add some fun to their day, Caltrain will also offer:
- An All Aboard Spotify Playlist curated from songs suggested by local riders — the perfect soundtrack for your commute.
- A Social Media Challenge to ride multiple Bay Area transit systems. Riders are encouraged to tag Caltrain and use #AllAboardCaltrain. Some participants with the most creative journeys will have a chance to win swag bags.
- Ambassador Pop-Ups at a few key transit hubs, where Caltrain representatives will hand out swag and thank riders in person.
