Find your zone
Caltrain fares are based on the number of zones that a passenger travels through. For example, if you travel from SF to Palo Alto station, you’ve traveled three zones.

- Clipper: Use your physical or digital Clipper card to pay for your Caltrain fare. To manage your Clipper card and view your trip activity, visit clippercard.com.
- Contactless Payment: Use any tap-to-pay debit/credit card or your Clipper card in your mobile wallet (Apple/Google Pay) at Caltrain station Clipper validators. To ensure the correct card is charged, remove your card from your wallet before tapping. Remember to tap on and tap off for each trip to avoid incorrect or multiple charges.
- In-Person: 1) Purchase physical One-way tickets or Day passes at any Caltrain station ticket machine. 2) Visit our Headquarters to purchase an Adult, Youth, or Senior Clipper cards and load transit products or cash to your Clipper card. 3) Purchase Adult Clipper cards or load transit products/cash to all Clipper card types at the Caltrain station ticket machines.
- Parking: Buy Caltrain monthly parking permits at Caltrain station ticket machines or Caltrain’s headquarters. Daily parking is also available at the Caltrain ticket machines or through the ParkMobile app.
