Make Caltrain Part of the Trip to 49ers’ Home Games at Levi’s Stadium

The wait is nearly over—49ers football is set to return for the regular season on Monday night—and Caltrain is ready to help carry the faithful to games at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The 49ers will open up their 2016 campaign with a nationally-televised performance against the Los Angeles Rams at 7:20 p.m. on Monday.
Prior to kickoff, Caltrain will operate its regular weekday schedule, which provides plenty of opportunities for fans to make their way to the Mountain View Caltrain Station. From there, fans will be able to board Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) light-rail vehicles to the stadium. Following the game on Monday, Caltrain will operate a special northbound train, which will depart about 75 minutes after the game, or when full. That train will make all local stops to San Francisco.

Playing against their new West Coast rivals—the Rams are now playing in Los Angeles after 21 years in St. Louis—the 49ers will seek to open their season with a win and a positive move in the right direction. The 49ers are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold on board trains but can be purchased at ticket machines at the stations.
During game days, fans can purchase a $20 one-game pass for express light-rail service on VTA for the trip between Mountain View and the stadium. Season passes for all 10 home games can also be purchased, for $149. The express passes will give passengers priority boarding following the game, and faster service on VTA. The passes can be purchased at www.vta.org/49ersexpress and at the VISA Box Office at Levi’s Stadium. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased at station ticket machines. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.
Fans that plan on parking at the Mountain View station and taking the VTA light rail from there should purchase just the $5.50 parking permit at the Caltrain ticket machine. The VTA pass can be purchased at the VTA ticket machine located at the north end of the platform. Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and to remember that alcohol is not allowed on game-day trains beginning at 9 p.m. Food and beverage aren’t allowed on VTA.
