Caltrain Electrification Community Meeting - Electric Train Testing
Please join Caltrain staff for a virtual community meeting about Caltrain Electrification. Staff will provide information about upcoming activities in your area.
Starting in mid- March, Caltrain will begin testing of the new electric trains on the main tracks between San Francisco and Mountain View. Testing will begin at walking speed and will increase to maximum authorized speed of 79 mph. Testing will be completed at night between 9 pm and 4 am to reduce impacts on regular Caltrain service. Residents may hear additional noise during testing hours, including grade crossing activations and train horns. We appreciate your patience as we complete this transformational project. This meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about energization and testing activities, safety information and the project timeline.
