As Playoffs Start, Caltrain is Still Your Ride to the Valkyries

Caltrain to host themed train to SAP Center for first ever Valkyries playoff run

The Valkyries have made the playoffs in their inaugural season, and the celebration begins on Caltrain. For the first home playoff game at SAP Center on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., Caltrain will run the southbound #416 as a Valkyries-themed train. The last northbound train will depart San Jose Diridon Station at 11:30 p.m. on the regular weekday schedule

Valkyries and Caltrain representatives will be on board, offering riders the chance to win prizes, including exclusive Valkyries and Caltrain merchandise.

Whether you tap your Clipper card, use the Clipper app, or pay with Clipper on your phone’s wallet (Apple or Google), it’s the most convenient — and most affordable — way to ride Caltrain. Clipper offers automatic discounts, including:

  • Clipper START: 50% off standard fares for eligible riders
  • Youth fare: Just $1 one-way or $2 for a Day Pass for riders 18 and under

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system, which means tickets are not sold onboard. If not using Clipper, you can buy your ticket:

  • At station ticket machines
  • Through the Caltrain Mobile App (the app will be retired by the end of October)

Mobile Day Passes are valid from the time of purchase through the end of that service day. For a smoother experience — especially when heading to events or during peak hours — buy your fare in advance.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the Caltrain mobile app or through ticket machines onsite. The mobile app can be used immediately after parking, as it requires a space number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including weekends and holidays.

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days.
