Caltrain will join VTA and SamTrans at the Silicon Valley Pride Parade on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in downtown San Jose. The parade begins at Julian Street and Market Street and ends at Plaza Park.
Riders traveling from Caltrain’s San Jose Diridon Station can connect to downtown San Jose by VTA light rail or local bus. Riders also can walk approximately 1.3 miles from Diridon Station to Plaza Park. Use the VTA app or trip planner to confirm connections and allow extra travel time for crowds and street closures.
This collaboration between Caltrain, VTA and SamTrans extends the spirit of unity that transit agencies across the Bay Area celebrated throughout Pride Month in June and at San Francisco Pride. By coming together again in San Jose, the agencies are celebrating the LGBTQ+ community while demonstrating the power of regional partnership to connect people, communities and destinations across the Bay Area.
Riders should plan ahead, check the weekend schedule and purchase fares before boarding. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system, and tickets are not sold onboard trains.
Clipper® is the Bay Area’s all-in-one reloadable transit card and a convenient way to pay Caltrain fares. Adult customers also can tap a contactless credit or debit card or use a digital wallet such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, at a Clipper reader.
Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are allowed on trains until 9 p.m. during regular service. Disruptive passengers will be asked to leave Caltrain property.
Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including on weekends and holidays. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the ParkMobile app or through ticket machines onsite. ParkMobile allows riders to simply input the station zone number (which can be found through the app and will be posted on station signage and on station pages on the Caltrain website) as well as the number of the parking space. To use the app, customers must create an account by entering an email address, payment method, and license plate number.
