By Dan Lieberman, @LiebermanTweets Cinco de Mayo Salsa Dancing: If your plans for Cinco de Mayo are drinking mediocre beer bottled in Chicago and calling it “Cinco de Drinko,” let me stop you right now before you embarrass yourself and your loved ones further. Instead, you should get yourself up to Dance Fridays in San Francisco and learn how to salsa. Take Caltrain to the Bayshore Station, then take a short walk to catch the MUNI 9, and your hips will be moving in ways you never thought possible in no time. Jane’s Walk SJ:  If you want to learn more about San Jose’s history and get outside to enjoy the wonderful weather we’ve been having, Jane’s Walk might be your cup of tea. Named for urbanist and activist Jane Jacobs, these walks are designed to let people learn more about their neighborhoods, get engaged in local issues and promote walkable cities. Both A beginner’s guide to downtown San Jose (as told by a New Jerseyan) and the Ride to Silicon Valley Bikes Festival & Bicycle Show depart from the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station, and VTA can get you to many of the other tours scheduled. Draft Plan Bay Area 2040: Since you’re reading a public transportation blog (like all the cool kids) it’s safe to assume you have opinions about transit (same). Then you’ll be happy to hear that the draft of Plan Bay Area 2040 is open for public comment, and the MTC and ABAG want to hear what you have to say about it. The plan is a holistic view of transportation and land-use planning, and may well lay out the future of what the Bay Area looks like, so make sure you speak up on what matters most to you and yours.
