Important Message to Caltrain Riders who Park at the Millbrae Transit Center
In order to accommodate construction of the Gateway at Millbrae Station project, a total of 900 BART-owned parking spaces have been eliminated as of March 23, 2020 (see map below).
The reduction of spaces is expected to impact vehicle parking availability for both Caltrain and BART customers. Starting in spring 2020, BART will move their parking verification machines beyond their fare gates, at which time Caltrain-specific garage parking will be limited to 50 single day reserved permits. Details and instructions for purchasing Caltrain-specific BART parking garage permits will be available in March at www.caltrain.com/MillbraeGaragePermits. Until that time, BART daily fee parking will remain open to all customers.
Caltrain parking on the west side of the station will remain open throughout construction.
In anticipation of parking shortages, Caltrain riders are encouraged to take advantage of the following Millbrae Station access alternatives:
Broadway/Millbrae Shuttle: Caltrain customers can park at the Broadway Caltrain Station and take the FREE shuttle to the Millbrae Transit Center Monday through Friday. The shuttle ride takes about seven minutes and is timed to meet high-demand commuting trains. The Broadway Station parking lot typically has 100 empty parking spaces on a given weekday. Customers can use the Caltrain Mobile app or ticket vending machine to pay for daily parking permits. Shuttle schedule information can be found online at www.smctd.com/MBShuttle.
SamTrans Route ECR: The ECR offers high frequency bus service along El Camino Real and stops across the street from the Millbrae Station.
Bike: Millbrae Station offers bike racks and electronic on-demand bike lockers. Electronic locker information can be found at www.bikelink.org.
Carpool: As always, riders are encouraged to carpool to stations whenever possible to reduce emissions and save on the cost of a daily parking permit.
