Electronic Payment Methods
Clipper
Clipper® is a reloadable fare payment system that’s used to store a Caltrain Monthly Pass and/or cash to use for fare payment. Add a Clipper card to your mobile wallet (using Apple Pay, Google Pay, the Clipper or Caltrain mobile app) to tap on with ease.
Reminder: All Caltrain riders must tap on and tap off for each trip, including Monthly Pass and GoPass users.

Caltrain Mobile App (Retiring Oct. 31)
The Caltrain Mobile App will be retired on October 31, 2025. Until then, riders may continue using it to purchase one-way tickets, Day Passes, and daily parking. Supported payment methods include Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and PayPal.
Starting this fall, Clipper will take over all digital fare payment and ParkMobile will launch for daily parking payments.
ParkMobile (Coming Soon)
Daily parking payments for Caltrain stations will be available through the ParkMobile app soon.
With ParkMobile, riders can:
- Pay by entering a station zone number
- Get session reminders and extend parking remotely
- View digital receipts and parking history
Updated signage and zone numbers will appear at stations before the app transition.
In-Person Payment Methods
Caltrain Station Ticket Machines
Available at every station, Caltrain station ticket machines accept coins, bills, and credit or Visa/Mastercard debit cards. The following items are available for purchase:
- One-way tickets and Day Passes
- Adult Clipper cards
- Parking
You may also load cash value or other transit agency products to all Clipper card types.
Please note: Tickets must be purchased on the day of travel — advance purchases are not available.
Caltrain Headquarters
Customers can also visit our office at 1250 San Carlos Ave. to:
- Purchase Adult Clipper cards
- Apply for Youth or Senior Clipper cards
- Load cash value or transit products to Clipper cards
- Purchase Monthly Parking Permits (with eligible transit products)
Accepted payment methods include credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, Discover) and prepaid transit benefit cards or checks (for designated purposes only)

Parking Options
Daily Parking
Daily parking can be paid for:
- At Caltrain station ticket machines
- Through the Caltrain Mobile App (until October 31, 2025)
- Through the ParkMobile app (coming soon)

Monthly Parking Permits
Available to Caltrain riders with a valid Monthly Pass or GoPass on their Clipper card. Can be purchased:
- At Caltrain station ticket machines (from the 21st of the previous month to the 15th of the valid month)
- At Caltrain HQ: 1250 San Carlos Ave.
