Caltrain to host themed train July 22 for everyone looking to Just Dance
Lady Gaga will perform at Chase Center on July 22, 24 and 26 and Caltrain will host special themed cars for the first performance on Tuesday, July 22. Caltrain has up to four trains per hour per direction at peak hours, which offers the perfect opportunity for concertgoers to end their bad romance with Highway 101 and take advantage of Caltrain’s affordable, convenient service instead.
The 523, an express train, is scheduled to depart San Jose Diridon at 5:22 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco by 6:22 p.m., leaving plenty of time to get to the venue before doors open at 7 p.m. In addition to the 523, Caltrain’s weekday and weekend schedule, supported by the agency’s new electric fleet, offers abundant service to San Francisco Station, a short walk from the venue which is also easily accessible via the Muni T-Third Street line which is free for ticket holders. The last southbound train of the evening departs San Francisco Station at 12:05 a.m.
The themed cars will be decorated for the occasion, and will offer an on-board costume & look-alike contest, as well as swag and merch giveaways and much more. Fans planning on taking the Gaga Train can sign up at Eventbrite.
Whether you tap your Clipper card, use the Clipper app, or pay with Clipper on your phone’s wallet (Apple or Google), it’s the most convenient — and most affordable — way to ride Caltrain. Clipper offers automatic discounts, including:
- Clipper START: 50% off standard fares for eligible riders
- Youth fare: Just $1 one-way or $2 for a Day Pass for riders 18 and under
Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system, which means tickets are not sold onboard. If not using Clipper, you can buy your ticket:
- At station ticket machines
- Through the Caltrain Mobile App (perfect for skipping lines on busy days)
Mobile Day Passes are valid from the time of purchase through the end of that service day. For a smoother experience — especially when heading to events or during peak hours — buy your fare in advance.
Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the Caltrain mobile app or through ticket machines onsite. The mobile app can be used immediately after parking, as it requires a space number. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including weekends and holidays.
Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the trains beginning at 9 p.m. on special event days.
