Caltrain has published a webpage detailing its accomplishments over the course of 2023.

Caltrain has met many milestones in 2023. Over the past year, Caltrain released the finalized Electrification schedule that will provide faster and more frequent service for riders and held events for the public to see the new trains. The agency expanded its Gilroy service frequency and the State approved $80 million in funding for Caltrain to pilot an electric and battery powered train to expand zero-emission service to Gilroy. Caltrain made great strides connecting with its riders through various community events, all while increasing ridership and launching new pilot fare programs.

Caltrain is committed to continuing to improve its services to meet the needs of its riders. The New Year will see Caltrain celebrate 160 years of service and the launch of electrified service for passengers in fall 2024, reinventing Caltrain for generations to come.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with commute service to Gilroy. Serving the region since 1863, Caltrain is the oldest continually operating rail system west of the Mississippi. Looking to the future, Caltrain is set to electrify the corridor by 2024, which will reduce diesel emissions and add more service to more stations while advancing the agency’s equity goals.
