Caltrain Announces New Schedule Returning Electric Train Service to Tamien Station

Caltrain will implement a new weekday and weekend schedule, which goes into effect Saturday, Jan. 31. Outside of the restoration of electric train service to Tamien Station in San Jose, most changes to the schedule are minor.

Changes in New Schedule

Weekday and weekend Tamien electric train service will resume, ending the VTA replacement bus service. College Park Station will be served by Train 143 at 3:31 p.m. instead of Train 141 at 3:01 p.m.

  • Train 141 will depart San Jose Diridon at 2:58 p.m.
  • Train 143 will depart San Jose Diridon at 3:23 p.m.
  • Train 104 will depart San Jose Diridon at 7:03 a.m.
  • Train 108 will depart San Jose Diridon at 8:23 a.m.

The restoration of electric train service to Tamien Station was made as a result of the progress on the Guadalupe Bridge Replacement Project. After nearly 40,000 hours of work, the Overhead Contact System (OCS) over the western track of the 91-year old bridge has been restored, allowing electric train travel to resume between San Jose Diridon and Tamien stations.
