Caltrain and Bay FC team up for Friday night's game

Caltrain helps fans travel to Bay FC matches at PayPal Park throughout the season — and on Friday, Sept. 4, they're teaming up for a home match against the Kansas City Current. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

Caltrain Executive Director Michelle Bouchard will participate in a ceremonial first kick before the match. Fans also can visit the Caltrain table to receive a co-branded Caltrain and Bay FC pin, while supplies last. 

Fans can take Caltrain to Santa Clara Station, then walk about one mile to PayPal Park or connect to VTA Route 60 for a trip of about 10 minutes. Taking transit gives fans a convenient alternative to game-day traffic and parking. 

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system that requires riders to pay their fare before boarding. Clipper is the all-in-one reloadable transit card for the Bay Area — and a convenient way to pay Caltrain fares – but riders can now also simply tap on and off with their contactless credit card or digital wallet at the Clipper reader. Riders without Clipper, credit/debit cards, or a digital wallet can purchase tickets at station ticket machines. Tickets are not sold on board. 

Caltrain reminds customers that open alcoholic beverages are allowed on trains until 9 p.m. during regular service. Disruptive passengers will be asked to leave Caltrain property.   

Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day, including on weekends and holidays. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased using the ParkMobile app or through ticket machines onsite. ParkMobile allows riders to simply input the station zone number (which can be found through the app and will be posted on station signage and on station pages on the Caltrain website) as well as the number of the parking space. To use the app, customers must create an account by entering an email address, payment method, and license plate number.
