Ride Caltrain to San Francisco’s legendary race on Sunday, May 17! 

There will be special limited-stop pre-race trains to San Francisco that will arrive before the 8 a.m. start time. See schedule below.

Bay to Breakers Northbound Special Train Service 

Caltrain will be running two special trains to Bay to Breakers. An express train to San Francisco will depart Palo Alto from the southbound platform at 6:08 a.m. and one train will depart San Jose Diridon Station at 6:04 a.m. making limited stops, see timetable below for details.

Alcohol is prohibited on the special trains dedicated for Bay to Breakers.  

Expect large crowds at Palo Alto station and arrive 20 minutes before departure time.

Regular Sunday northbound service from San Jose starts at 6:51 AM. After the race, please check the weekend schedule for the next departure

Expect long lines the morning of the race and give yourself plenty of time by getting to the station early. Daily Parking must be purchased through the ticket machine. Staff will be at Palo Alto and San Jose Stations early to assist riders.  

Getting to the Starting Line from San Francisco Station

The starting line is at Howard St. and Main St., about 1.4 miles from the San Francisco Caltrain Station at Fourth & King streets.   

Participants can walk to the starting line from the station, or board an N Judah Muni train from King St.  

Caltrain would like to remind customers that Bay to Breakers does not allow alcohol and floats.
