Caltrain is proud to join Bay Area transit agencies in celebrating Transit Month 2025 with events highlighting the vital role public transportation has in building sustainable, connected communities.
This year’s Transit Month includes the Ride Like a Leader campaign, special rider appreciation activities, and interactive community events designed to inspire more people to discover and embrace transit. Transit Month also marks the first anniversary of Caltrain’s revolutionary electric service, which launched Sept. 21, 2024.
Caltrain is participating in the Ride Like a Leader campaign, which encourages board members, elected officials, and community leaders to share their positive transit experiences with the public. This campaign allows Caltrain’s leadership to shine a spotlight on their stories, showing that public transit is not only reliable and sustainable but also a lifeline that connects people to jobs, schools, healthcare and local businesses across the Peninsula. These stories reinforce the role Caltrain, and public transit, plays in supporting the Bay Area economy and improving quality of life.
“Caltrain connects the people it serves with a host of vibrant downtowns, dynamic job centers and exciting destinations,” said Caltrain Executive Director Michelle Bouchard. “The Ride Like a Leader campaign allows our board members and local leaders to tell their stories and show firsthand how Caltrain makes their lives better.”
Bouchard will take part in the All Aboard CEO Ride Along on Friday, Sept. 26, joining transit leaders from across the region for a tour of the North Bay. The day will include riding the Golden Gate Ferry to Larkspur and connecting to the SMART Train, spotlighting the value of seamless regional transit connections.
Caltrain staff and Board members will hold customer appreciation events at multiple stations to mark the first anniversary of electric service from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and from 8-11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25. Riders can expect free swag and useful transit information, in addition to a friendly hello as a thank-you for choosing Caltrain.
Caltrain will also release a video celebrating its first year of electric service later this month. Ridership has exploded since the launch of electric service, with Caltrain seeing 9.1 million riders over FY 2025, an increase of 47% over FY 2024
