Service Information
To finish critical Electrification testing in time to begin passenger service in fall 2024, Caltrain will be adjusting weekend rail service throughout 2024. There will be regular service during the month of May. The next service adjustment is planned for the weekend of June 8 & 9.
Weekend of June 8 and 9, 2024
Weekend Service Shutdown
No train service from San Jose to San Francisco
In support of electric train testing, there will be no train service between San Jose and San Francisco on June 8 & 9. Limited bus service will be provided only at San Jose Diridon, Palo Alto, and Millbrae stations. There will be limited passenger capacity on buses. No stops between these stations and no bus service north of Millbrae.
Please consider alternative transit such as Muni, VTA, SamTrans or transfer from the bus bridge at Millbrae to BART for travel to/from San Francisco.
Fares are required for BART and other transit services.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to improve the railroad.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Caltrain temporarily suspending weekend service along the entire rail corridor?
The Caltrain Electrification Project will provide passengers with greener, faster, and more frequent service, and is nearing its final phase as we prepare for the start of passenger service in fall 2024. This temporary service shutdown is needed to perform testing activities.
Do I have to pay to ride the bus service during this weekend?
Caltrain customers using the bus bridge do not need to make a payment. However, fares are required for BART and other connecting transit services.
Do I have to pay to park at the stations this weekend?
If you wish to park at a Caltrain station during this weekend, you must still pay for parking. To pay for parking, use the ticket machines on the platforms or the Caltrain Mobile app.
Will there be enough buses to accommodate the crowds?
Caltrain has partnered with SamTrans to provide the maximum replacement bus service available. However, buses have limited passenger capacity and may be subject to crowding. We encourage all passengers to plan ahead and use alternative transportation options.
Are the buses ADA accessible?
Yes, the replacement bus service will be operated by SamTrans and will be ADA accessible.
Can I bring my bike on the bus bridge?
Customers are allowed to place their bikes in the bike racks at the front of the bus. Space is limited to a maximum of 3 bikes per bus. Use alternative transit when possible and consider using bike parking options that are available at most stations. More information at www.caltrain.com/bikes.
Who do I contact if I left an item on the bus bridge?
SamTrans will be providing the bus bridge for this weekend. If you lost an item on the bus, please fill out the lost and found form at www.samtrans.com/lost.
Who should I contact with additional questions about the service impacts?
