Caltrain Strategic Plan (2014)

What is the Caltrain Strategic Plan?
The Strategic Plan will establish a common vision for the agency and will frame key policy, service and investment decisions over the next 10 years.

Caltrain kicked off the Strategic Plan effort at the October 2013 Board meeting and work on the plan is now underway. Staff is gathering feedback on how Caltrain is doing today and what we should do in the future. Staff is considering upcoming challenges and opportunities as they work to develop a draft strategic framework of guiding principles, goals and objectives.

Staff anticipates presenting a draft strategic framework to the Board with more focused public outreach occurring throughout the Spring. Following public review and input, staff hopes to present a refined and expanded plan to the Board in Summer 2014.

How can I get involved?
Over the next several months, Caltrain staff will be soliciting community input through a variety of meetings and venues. Check back here for information and updates.

In the meantime, do you have ideas about how to make Caltrain better? We are especially interested in hearing your ideas about how Caltrain is doing or could improve in the following areas:

Safety: Do you have ideas about how Caltrain could make its trains, stations and tracks safer?
Finances: Are there new sources of funding or new business models Caltrain should consider?
Service: What aspects of the Caltrain “experience” do you like and what ones should be improved or changed?
Infrastructure: How do you think Caltrain should prioritize its investments in new infrastructure?
Transportation and land use: How can Caltrain improve its integration with other transit systems and surrounding land uses?
Relationships: In what ways could Caltrain improve communication about its services, plans and projects?
Social Responsibility: How might Caltrain reduce its environmental footprint and make its service more accessible to all members of the community?
