Caltrain Strategic Plan (2014)

What is the Caltrain Strategic Plan?
The Strategic Plan will establish a common vision for the agency and will frame key policy, service and investment decisions over the next 10 years.

Process:
Caltrain kicked off the Strategic Plan effort at the October 2013 Board meeting and has since structured the strategic plan as depicted in the diagram below:

Strategic Plan Structure

Vision
Overarching direction
Guiding Principles
Broad, subject-oriented value statements supporting the vision (presented to board in April, 2014)
Goals
Open-ended, aspirational statements supporting guiding principles (presented to board in April, 2014)
Objectives
Specific, measurable statements that support goals by describing desired outcomes (currently seeking input and comments)

Throughout late 2013 and early 2014, Caltrain staff worked internally and with stakeholders and the public to develop draft guiding principles and goals. These were presented, in draft, to the Board at their April meeting. Staff is now seeking feedback on the more detailed proposed objectives. Staff plans to actively solicit input through the end of June and hopes to present a draft plan document to the public in late summer 2014.

How can I get involved?
Caltrain is seeking public input on the draft policy objectives developed by staff. The draft plan is organized into the 7 Guiding Principles shown below- please click on the links to the right of each principle to view and submit comments on that particular area of the plan. You can also download the entire set of draft guiding principles, goals and objectives as a single document HERE (PDF, 79KB). We want your input before we move to finalize the plan in late summer of 2014.
