Grade Separation: San Bruno/South Linden Avenue
Factsheet
Lead Agency:
Caltrain
Contractor:
To be determined by competitive bid
Project Limits:
Approximately two miles of the Caltrain Corridor from Colma
Creek in South San Francisco to San Felipe Avenue in San Bruno
Construction Cost:
$170 - $200 million (estimate)
Begin Construction:
2011
End Construction:
2014
Reason for Project:
This project will allow for improved safety along this
section of track, smoother automobile traffic flow in
the area, and better access between downtown
San Bruno and the Caltrain station.
Scope of Work:
The project will eliminate five at-grade (street level)
railroad crossings, by lowering South Linden, San
Bruno, San Mateo and Angus Avenues, while raising
the tracks, and closing Scott Street to vehicular traffic.
Pedestrian underpasses will be built at Scott Street,
Euclid Avenue and Sylvan Avenue. A new elevated
Caltrain station located between San Bruno and San
Mateo avenues will replace the existing station at
Sylvan Avenue. Streets and sidewalks adjacent to
the grade will be improved, including sidewalks along
Posey Park.
