Caltrain Premier Match For Soccer At Stanford July 14

Soccer fans going to Stanford Stadium to see world-class teams from England and Mexico compete July 14 can avoid traffic and parking hassles by taking Caltrain to the match.

Caltrain will serve the Stanford stadium train station for the 6 p.m. match between the English league champions, Chelsea Football Club, and the Mexican Primera League champions, Club America. Located above Embarcadero Road at Alma Street, Caltrain’s Stanford Stadium Station is a short walk from the stadium.

A southbound special express train will depart San Francisco at 3:55 p.m., making stops at South San Francisco, Millbrae, San Mateo and Redwood City, arriving at the Stanford station at 4:41 p.m.

A northbound special train will leave San Jose Diridon station at 4:30 p.m., making all regular local stops on the way to Stanford, arriving at 5 p.m.

The post-game special trains will depart 15 minutes following the end of the game, making all local weekend stops.

In addition to the special trains, the following regular trains will stop at the stadium station: 439, 441, 443, 447 and 449 (northbound) and 436, 438, 440, 444 and 446 (southbound).

Since there are no ticket vending machines or 10-ride validators at the Stanford station, riders are advised to purchase a Caltrain Day Pass at their departure station before boarding the train to go to the game. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system and those without a valid ticket may receive a citation.

For additional information about train service and fares, call Caltrain at 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448).
