Night/Weekend Work
There is no night or weekend work scheduled at the San Carlos Transit Center Project.
Weekday Work
Monday, October 23 to October 27, crews will continue parking lot improvements, including curb and gutter work along El Camino Real. Neighbors may experience construction noise and traffic during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience. El Camino Real traffic may also be reduced to one lane during construction activities.
Some parking spaces in the Caltrain parking lot and along the eastside of El Camino between Cherry and Arroyo have been permanently removed as part of the project. Caltrain customers are encouraged to park at the Belmont Caltrain Station during construction.
Background
The San Carlos Multi-Modal Transit Center Project (Transit Center) is located on the west side of the railroad corridor at the site of the existing San Carlos Caltrain Station. The Transit Center project consists of transforming the existing San Carlos Caltrain Station parking lot into a multi-modal transit center that will better serve the community by improving safety and accessibility between SamTrans fixed route bus services, Caltrain commuter rail services, local shuttles, pedestrians and bicyclists. 25 Avenue GradeSeparation Project
Night/Weekend Work
Starting on Monday,October 23 to Wednesday, October 25, crews will be removing tracks at the Bay Meadows maintenance area north of Hillsdale Station. Work may occur at night or during the day when there is limited or no train service.
On Friday, October 27,crews will be installing sheet piles for temporary shoring and cast-in-drilled-hole piles within the Caltrain right-of-way. To limit impactsto railroad operations, these activities may be conducted at night or during the day when there is limited or no train service.
During night work, neighbors will hear additional noises from heavy machinery and equipment backup alarms. In addition, generators will be used for night time activities to power portable light towers. Caltrain will implement noise mitigation measures for residents directly adjacent to the project site. We apologize for any inconvenience these activities may cause.
Weekday Work
Beginning Monday, October 16 to Friday, October 20, crews will be clearing shrubbery and removing trees along the project route. During this time, potholing will occur from 20th Avenue to 31st Avenue. That same week, fencing and gates will be installed along the project area from the SR92 to Hillsdale Blvd, and crews will be mobilizing equipment and material onsite at 31st Avenue for bridge foundation work.
On Monday, October 23 to Wednesday, October 25, crews will be removing tracks at the Bay Meadows maintenance area north of Hillsdale Station. On Friday, October 27, crews will be installing sheet piles for temporary shoring and cast-in-drilled-hole piles within the Caltrain right-of-way.
Starting on Monday,October 23, parking spaces #170 through 234 at Hillsdale Station will be blocked off to stage equipment and materials for the bridge foundation operations. No parking will be allowed in the listed parking spaces starting October 23 at 2:00 a.m. The designated parking area will be closed to traffic through January 2020.
A temporary parking area will be opened on Monday, October 23 at E. 31st Avenue(accessible from South Delaware Street). For a map of the temporary parking area, click here.Customers can use a temporary path from this lot to access the Caltrain platform.
For riders, single tracking will occur on October 27 from 9:00 p.m. until that evening’s last train to allow for the installation of the temporary shoring.

Background
Caltrain, in cooperation with the City of San Mateo, will raise the tracks and slightly lower the road (grade separate) at E. 25th Avenue in San Mateo. This will improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians, and it will reduce local traffic congestion in San Mateo. In addition, the project will create new east-west street connections at 28th and 31st Avenues; and as part of the project improvements, Caltrain will build a new elevated Hillsdale Station with updated amenities at E. 28th Avenue.
Construction is expected to be complete in early 2020. In order to maintain regular train service, some activities will be conducted during nights and weekends, outside of normal train service hours. Los Gatos Creek Bridge ReplacementProject Weekly Update
Night/Weekend Work
As part of the Los Gatos Creek Bridge Project, there is nightwork scheduled on Friday, October 20 through Friday, October 27. Crews will continue to backfill abutment with soil, install rock slope protection and perform work on storm drain bypass. Rock slope protection will include the installation of .5-1 ton rocks on site.
Residents will hear on-track equipment and construction activities during these nights. Crews will mobilize equipment on site in preparation of the precast girder installment. Crews will also continue installation of tail track turnout. To limit the impact to railroad operations, these activities must be conducted at night or on the weekend when there is limited or no train service.
Additional night work will be required throughout the project.

Background
Caltrain, in cooperation with the City of San Jose, is preparing to replace the railroad bridge crossing at Los Gatos Creek in San Jose. The current bridge was built in 1935, and in order to maintain safe rail operations and meet current seismic safety standards, the bridge must be replaced. The project will also include installation of a tailtrack south of the San Jose Diridon station. The tail track will provide improved operations at the station and minimize system-wide delays. Construction is expected to be complete in early 2018.

PeninsulaCorridor Electrification Project
The Peninsula CorridorElectrification Project (PCEP) is a key component of the Caltrain Modernizationprogram. The PCEP would electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco’s4th and King Caltrain Station to approximately the Tamien Caltrain Station.
The primary purpose of the Project is to improve Caltrain system performance, reduce long-term environmental impact by reducing noise, improving regional air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. An electrified Caltrain system would better address Peninsula commuters’ vision of increased service and improved travel times in an environmentally friendly and reliable way. This also is expected to help accommodate increase system ridership through improved system operations.

The welding crew uses air compressors,gas-powered generators, small power tools, electric-arc welders and propane heaters. Neighbors may experience maintenance noise during this time. Resurfacing corrects the alignment of uneven rails to make them smooth, minimizing the jerks and bumps experienced by passengers and reducing the mechanical strain on the rails. Neighbors may experience maintenance noise during this time. Crews will work as quietly as possible.
