Sunnyvale Station Rehabilitation Project

Project Scope
The Sunnyvale Station Rehabilitation Project is a safety improvement project that will update the station’s platform length to allow for a six car train to fit the platform. It will also relocate the pedestrian crossing at the northbound end of the station platform approximately 80 feet northwest (closer to Mathilda Avenue) to prevent the crossing at the southbound end of the platform from being blocked. In addition, the project will replace uneven pavers on the platform with a smooth concrete surface.
Schedule
- Contract awarded: September 2017
- Construction begins: March 2018
- Construction complete: April 2019
Community Impacts During Construction
Construction activities include demolition and removal of existing platform pavers; relocation of existing facilities including sections of the mini-high platforms and passenger shelters as necessary; and placing concrete. Construction will take place during the day on weekdays. Neighbors may experience construction noise during these times.
For those who ride Caltrain, single tracking at Sunnyvale Station may occur. Vehicular parking at the station will be impacted to facilitate the construction activities. Please allow extra time to park and meet the train. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
