Weekly Notification for the Week of March 24 to March 30, 2018

Night/Weekend Work
During the day and night on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, crews will be removing the existing intermediate signals north of Hillsdale Station and south of Hayward Park Station and installing a temporary signal at 25th Avenue. Due to this work, the north pedestrian gates at the Hillsdale Station will be closed, and the south pedestrian gates at the Hayward Park Station will be closed. Caltrain patrons are asked to use the other pedestrian gate at the stations. Please observe signs posted. Train service will not be affected by the work.

When possible, work will be conducted during the day. However, due to the proximity of some activities relative to the railroad tracks, night work may be required throughout the project. In an effort to start construction earlier in the evening, Caltrain will be single tracking its trains on evenings when night work is scheduled. Please note the construction schedule is subject to change.
Neighbors may hear additional noises from heavy machinery and equipment backup alarms. Caltrain will implement noise mitigation measures for residents directly adjacent to the project site. We apologize for any inconvenience these activities may occur.

Weekday Work
On Monday, March 26 to Friday, March 30, there will be some partial lane closures on E. 25th Avenue between El Camino Real and S. Delaware. Street parking may be limited and flaggers may be assisting with traffic coordination at the railroad crossing. During this time, crews will be installing temporary shoring at 25th Avenue. Caltrain will establish signs for pedestrians and motorists to help with traffic flow. All businesses along E. 25th Avenue will remain open during construction.

Also on Monday, March 26 to Friday, March 30, crews will:
- Pothole to determine the location of underground utilities
- Regrade areas north of Borel Creek
- Conduct signal work at 25th Avenue
- Work on abutments at the Pedestrian Underpass
- Remove the temporary shoring at Borel Creek

On Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27, crews will work on temporary shoring and the abutments at 25th Avenue. Then on Wednesday, March 28 to Friday, March 30, crews will be doing CIDH work at 25th Avenue.

For riders, single tracking may occur at night to allow for the construction activities. To view a map of the temporary parking lot visit www.caltrain.com/25thgs (scroll down to “project resources”).

Caltrain, in cooperation with the City of San Mateo, will raise the tracks and slightly lower the road (grade separate) at E. 25th Avenue in San Mateo. This will improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians, and it will reduce local traffic congestion in San Mateo. In addition, the project will create new east-west street connections at 28th and 31st Avenues; and as part of the project improvements, Caltrain will build a new elevated Hillsdale Station with updated amenities at E. 28th Avenue.

Construction is expected to be complete in early 2020. In order to maintain regular train service, some activities will be conducted during nights and weekends, outside of normal train service hours. Neighbors may experience construction noise and light during these times. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
