Take Caltrain to Fleet Week in San Francisco

San Francisco is abuzz as Fleet Week festivities return to the city’s waterfront this week, and Caltrain is reporting for duty. Events, including a spectacular performance by the Blue Angels this weekend, begin today, October 6, and will continue through Sunday, October 10. Air shows will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 8 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the weekend.

Caltrain will be running its regular service throughout the week and weekend. Riders should be aware that there are Giants home games on Friday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 9 at 6 p.m., which will result in larger crowds.

Upon arrival at Caltrain’s San Francisco Station, passengers can transfer to Muni’s 30-Stockton bus for a connection to the Marina Green, where most of the week’s festivities will take place.

San Francisco’s Fleet Week includes a parade of naval ships, tours of vessels, and, of course, aerial shows from the world famous Blue Angels flight exhibition team.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system. Tickets aren’t sold onboard trains but can be purchased at station ticket machines. Riders that wish to use contactless payment can use either Caltrain mobile app or a Clipper card, which can now be purchased at a Ticket Vending Machine at the San Jose, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, Redwood City, Millbrae and San Francisco Stations.

Caltrain reminds customers to drink responsibly and to remember that open alcoholic beverages are prohibited on trains beginning at 9 p.m.

Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased at Caltrain station ticket machines. Paid parking rules are enforced throughout the day.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with commute service to Gilroy. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
