Caltrain to Announce Draft Staff Recommendation for Long Term Service Vision at YouTube Town Hall

Over the last year, Caltrain has been working to complete the Caltrain Business Plan, a comprehensive plan to meet the region’s 2040 mobility demands by growing Caltrain service. The agency will announce its draft recommended 2040 Service Vision option during a YouTube Town Hall on Monday, July 22.  The selection of the Long Range Service Vision is an important interim step towards the completion of the Business Plan.  Additional work on the plan will occur following the adoption of a Service Vision. The full Business Plan will be completed in early 2020.

The presentation on the Long Term Service Vision will include:

  • An evaluation of options for increased service
  • Identification of infrastructure and corresponding investments needed to support that service
  • An analysis of the economic and regional benefits that different service options provide
  • A review of organizational concepts to equip the agency to deliver the overall vision

In 2017, Caltrain secured full funding to complete the electrification of the Caltrain corridor. Electrification will be complete by 2022, and will provide the foundation for implementation of the 2040 Service Vision.

The Business Plan is a collaborative effort led by Caltrain with funding and participation from various organizations. Development of the draft Service Vision recommendation is the product of hundreds of hours of meetings with cities, counties, business groups, public agency partners, advocates, and public stakeholders throughout the corridor.

During the YouTube Town Hall, the public will have an opportunity to review and provide feedback through the live chat on the draft recommended 2040 Service Vision, and the benefits that it will create including:

  • Increased all-day Service Frequency
