Caltrain will be hosting two public community meetings regarding the 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project and the Caltrain Electrification Project detailing both project scopes and construction schedules.

The public meetings will be held at the following location:

Caltrain Outreach Office
2121 S. El Camino Real, Building A, Suite A-100

25th Avenue Grade Separation Project
Wednesday, September 13, at 6 p.m.

Caltrain, in cooperation with the City of San Mateo, will raise the tracks and slightly lower the road (grade separate) at E. 25th Avenue in San Mateo. This will improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians, and it will reduce local traffic congestion in San Mateo. In addition, the project will provide an opportunity to complete east-west street connections at 28th and 31st Avenues. As part of the project improvements, Caltrain will build a new elevated Hillsdale Station located at E. 28th Avenue. The new station will offer updated amenities and will allow for better safety and reduced traffic. The meeting will include a presentation detailing the project scope and construction schedule.

Caltrain Electrification Project
Wednesday, September 13, at 7:15 p.m.

Caltrain staff, along with the project contractors, will give an overview of upcoming construction activities in San Mateo which include tree removal/pruning, utility relocation, and signal/communication equipment inspection. Tree trimming/removal is scheduled to begin in September with foundation work scheduled to begin October. The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the project, including the scope and schedule of upcoming construction activities.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain enjoyed five years of consecutive monthly ridership increases, surpassing more than 65,000 average weekday riders. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad celebrated 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor, reduce diesel emissions by 97 percent by 2040 and add more service to more stations.
