California High-Speed Rail Authority
In 2008, California voters passed Proposition 1A, which provides $9 billion for California high-speed rail. The first modern high-speed rail system in the United States will connect Los Angeles and San Francisco. Future extensions will add service to Sacramento and San Diego.
In the Bay Area, high-speed rail will share the Caltrain corridor, stopping at stations in San Francisco, Millbrae and San Jose. A mid-Peninsula station in Redwood City, Palo Alto or Mountain View is under consideration.
