Let SamTrans or Caltrain be the Designated Driver with Free Rides

On New Year’s Eve, SamTrans and Caltrain will offer free rides beginning at 11 p.m. to encourage New Year’s Eve partygoers to use the bus or the train as their designated driver.

The free rides on SamTrans will continue until 2 a.m.

Caltrain will operate extra free service departing San Francisco at 1 a.m.,

1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Caltrain does not allow open alcohol containers on trains after 9 p.m. following a special event. Passengers who are considerate and responsible may bring open containers on all regular trains before 9 p.m. Disruptive passengers will be asked to detrain.
