Caltrain To Open New Southbound Platform At Burlingame Station

Caltrain marks another milestone in the construction of the Burlingame station on Tuesday, April 1, when the new southbound platform opens for passenger boarding. Signs in the station and conductors on board trains will help riders make the transition from the temporary boarding platform to the new, permanent platform.

The new platform extends from the historic depot to Howard Avenue. It is equipped with ticket validators, electronic message signs and a new public address system. The ticket vending machines will remain under the portico on the north end of the depot.

When the new platform is open, the temporary platform located behind the donut shop and the remainder of the old southbound boarding platform that extends from North Lane to the depot will be demolished. During demolition the area around the portico will be fenced off. Riders will be able to access the ticket vending machines from the south side of the depot.

The year-long project is designed to improve safety and train movement at the Burlingame station. For additional information, call the Caltrain construction outreach coordinator at 650.508.7726, email burlingame@caltrain.com or visit www.caltrain.com/burlingame.
