Caltrain Gears Up To Take Fans to the Big Game on Dec. 1

Few things on the Peninsula have been around as long as Caltrain – one of the closest competitors is the Big Game. Caltrain will provide special service to the 110th face-off between the Stanford Cardinal and University of California at Berkeley Golden Bears on Saturday, Dec. 1.

A special limited-stop train will leave San Francisco at 1:50 p.m., arriving at the Stanford Stadium station at 2:30 p.m., in plenty of time to meet friends at tailgate parties before the 4 p.m. kickoff. Regular service trains will begin stopping at the stadium train station, located a short walk from the stadium, approximately two hours before game time. All weekend trains also serve the Palo Alto station, which is located one-half mile north of the stadium station.

A special northbound train will depart from the Stanford Stadium stop 20 minutes after the conclusion of the game, or when full. Regular service northbound and southbound trains will stop at the stadium station after the game between approximately 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. For a complete schedule of trains that will service the Stanford Stadium station on Saturday, Dec. 1, click HERE.

Since there are no ticket vending machines at the Stanford station, riders are advised to purchase a Caltrain Day Pass at their departure station before boarding the train to go to the game. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system and passengers are required to have valid tickets while onboard.

East Bay fans won’t be left on the sidelines – the Millbrae Intermodal Station offers a cross-platform connection between Caltrain and BART.
