Caltrain To Run Special Post-Fireworks Service On July Fourth
Caltrain will operate on a Sunday schedule on
Independence Day but will add extra trains to
get people home from the fireworks show in San
Francisco, which is part of
San Francisco’s Fourth of July Celebration.
The celebration starts at noon with outdoor
music and movies, and runs through the
fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.
Caltrain will operate 28 hourly trains between
San Francisco and the San Jose Diridon Station
for the Wednesday holiday. Additionally,
Caltrain will operate three extra local trains
that will depart San Francisco after the
fireworks show near Pier 39. The extra trains
will depart at 11 p.m., 11:30 p.m. and 12:15 a.m.
The three trains will make all local weekend
stops to the San Jose Diridon station.
Caltrain headed to the San Francisco fireworks
show riders can transfer to the
Muni Metro system, right across the street from
the San Francisco Caltrain Station, and take Muni
to the Embarcadero station. From there, transfer
to Muni’s F-Line at street level. The F-Line is
Muni’s historic trolley car line that runs along
Market street and along the Embarcadero to the
festival site at Piers 39 and 45.
Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system and valid
fare media must be purchased before boarding the
train. Tickets can be purchased at vending
machines at all stations or from the station
agents at the San Francisco or San Jose stations.
For schedule and fare information, call Caltrain
at 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448).
