Peak Train Times to be Tweaked Oct. 10, 2005

Caltrain will tweak its weekday peak-hour train schedule effective Oct. 10 in order to restore the on-time performance that Caltrain customers have come to expect.

Summary of changes

  • Northbound mornings: train times will change by an average of four minutes.
  • Southbound mornings: no change
  • Northbound afternoons: train times will change by an average of three minutes. Train 189 will not serve the Tamien station, but Tamien will be served by trains 285 and 191. This change is being made to deal with train congestion through the San Jose Diridon station, which sees a train movement every two minutes during the peak.
  • Southbound afternoons: train times will change by an average of four minutes. The Baby Bullets currently departing at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. will depart 33 minutes past the hour.
Shuttle timetables will be adjusted as necessary.

This schedule modification will not impact the rail agency’s plan to conduct a six-month assessment of the 96-train schedule.

The new timetable (PDF, 1.43 MB) is posted online. New pocket timetables will be available the first week of October.
