Caltrain Adds Shuttles at Broadway and Atherton

Effective Aug. 1, 2005, Caltrain is providing free shuttle service connecting the Broadway (Burlingame) (PDF, 65.64 KB) and Atherton (PDF, 65.81 KB) stations with the Millbrae and Redwood City stations, respectively.

The free commute-hour shuttles will operate from about 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and from about 4 p.m. to about 7:25 p.m. on weekdays only. Hours vary slightly at the two stations, so passengers should consult the schedules.

Both bus services run non-stop and are fully accessible to people with disabilities. Passengers can save time by purchasing a Caltrain ticket before boarding the shuttles.

Caltrain has had to suspend weekday service to those two stations, as part of a new service pattern designed to offer riders more opportunities for quicker trips, as well as ease the railroad’s budget problems. Passengers who ride the shuttles may be able to connect with Baby Bullet express trains, which will be serving both the Millbrae and Redwood City stations.

Caltrain will continue to stop at Atherton and Broadway on weekends, however.

Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system, requiring all passengers to have valid fare media before boarding the train. Caltrain sells tickets through machines at all stations.

Passengers may purchase One-way, Day Pass, or 10-ride Tickets. The 10-ride Ticket is a great bargain for families and groups of friends heading to the race because one ticket may be used by all members of the traveling party, providing they don't exceed the 10-ride limit. Passengers are required to validate all 10-ride tickets before boarding.

Monthly Pass holders ride free through all zones on weekends.
