Caltrain Station At Hillsdale Closed for Construction – Dec. 17 & 18
Caltrain passengers who want to board the train at the
Hillsdale station will be directed to the nearby Bay Meadows
station on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18. The change
is needed to accommodate extensive track work that will occur
during a 55-hour work window. North- and southbound trains will
go around the construction site on a single track.
In order to upgrade this key Baby Bullet station, the entire
track bed will be shifted six inches east and lowered, and new
railroad ties will be installed. Regular Caltrain service will
resume at the Hillsdale station for the morning commute on
Monday, Dec. 19.
Passengers will be directed to park in the Caltrain spaces behind
TGI Friday and the former Organized Living store, just north of the
Hillsdale station. Passengers requiring wheelchair access should
use the Hayward Park or Belmont stations during this weekend, as
there is no wheelchair access from the Bay Meadows station.
After completion of improvements to the Hillsdale station, the Bay
Meadows station will be permanently closed to regular Caltrain
service on Dec. 20.
The upgrade to the Hillsdale Caltrain Station is part of a $4.2
million construction project, which included the construction of
a new northbound platform, the extension of the southbound platform,
the separation of tracks by a center fence, and the installation of
gated pedestrian crossings between the northbound and
southbound platforms.
