Safety Hazard Causes Delay

Caltrain apologizes for the delay some passengers experienced yesterday, Nov. 8.  Due to a potential hazard caused by someone jumping onto the train’s ladder, an emergency brake application was made.  Unfortunately, after the train came to an emergency stop, the brakes would not release.

Due to the frequency of trains during the rush hour and the need for a northbound train to almost immediately return to southbound service, this incident caused cascading delays to other trains.

Caltrain’s top priority is the safety of its customers and employees and will be pursuing any necessary action against the person who caused the delay.  If anyone has information that can help the Caltrain law enforcement office to identify the person, please call 1.877.SAF.RAIL (1.877.723.7245).

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced.  Caltrain will continue to provide you with the safest and quickest service possible.
