Exterior Train Advertising
Caltrain recently "wrapped" two of its trains with exterior advertising. Target
Stores of Minneapolis is the first advertiser which is participating in an exciting
new program to generate revenue by offering highly visible Caltrain cars for exterior
advertising.
Target has covered two five-car trains in a bright-red vinyl coating showcasing the
company's range of products - from clothing to athletic gear - and the company's
distinctive bull's-eye logo. Windows have a "screened" coating so passengers can see
through them. It is believed that Caltrain is the largest train or vehicle ever
wrapped.
Caltrain will receive 50 percent of the net advertising revenue generated during a
one-year pilot advertising contract with Viacom Outdoor Group, Inc., which is
estimated to be up to $360,000.
As many as three wrapped trains can be in operation at one time under terms of the
year-long demonstration program, and all advertising content must be reviewed and
approved by Caltrain.
