Caltrain Adding Service for New Year's Revelers

Caltrain will operate on a Sunday schedule (PDF, 26.4 KB) on Christmas and New Year’s days but will add service, including some free service, for night owls who plan to ring in the new year in San Francisco.

A Sunday schedule will be in effect Christmas Day, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day,
Jan. 1, with 30 trains operating between San Francisco and San Jose.

A regular weekday schedule will be in effect Christmas Eve, but on New Year’s Eve, Caltrain will add one northbound train into San Francisco to the regular schedule. The train will depart the San Jose Diridon Station at 7:36 p.m., making all regular local stops and arriving in San Francisco approximately 90 minutes later.

Caltrain will once again offer free service beginning at 11 p.m. Any reveler boarding a train New Year’s Eve train after 11 p.m. –and throughout the rest of the service
day— will get a free ride on Caltrain.

Three special post-midnight trains will make all regular local stops and will depart the San Francisco station at 12:45 a.m., 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.
