Caltrain's Next Stop: Hollywood
People heading to the new Century 12 Downtown San Mateo cinema can escape traffic
and parking hassles by letting Caltrain or SamTrans be their chauffeur.
With its San Mateo station just two blocks from the new cinema, Caltrain will
practically usher moviegoers to the box office on B Street.
Caltrain offers frequent weekday service to the San Mateo Transit Center, including
half-hourly midday schedules that are particularly convenient for matinee audiences.
Because of Caltrain's weekend construction shutdown, Saturday and Sunday service will
not be available until spring 2004.
However, SamTrans offers service to downtown San Mateo on Routes 250, 292, 295, 390,
391 and 397 (after midnight).
Taking transit also means that people don't have to navigate unfamiliar downtown
streets to get to the theater by showtime. Caltrain and SamTrans staff will be on
hand for the cinema's opening this weekend, distributing flyers about the ease of
taking transit to the movies.
