Bicycle Master Plan

The Caltrain Bicycle Master Plan will focus on improvements for bicycle parking at and bicycle access to Caltrain stations. The main elements of the Plan will include:

  • Bike parking guidelines
  • Station access design guidelines
  • Bicycle program administration
  • Recommendations for Capital Improvements focusing on the stations most used by bicyclists:
  • San Francisco Palo Alto
    22nd St Mountain View
    Millbrae San Jose
    Hillsdale San Mateo (optional)
    Redwood City Sunnyvale (optional)

Technical Advisory Group
The Technical Advisory Group will provide guidance and input for all plan deliverables. The TAG will meet monthly or bi-monthly based on the level of activity. The TAG consists of representation from stakeholders including, but not limited to:

  • Caltrain Staff: Operations, Facilities, Maintenance, Customer Service departments
  • Caltrain: Board and Bicycle Advisory Committee
  • Local Cities: all cities along the Caltrain Corridor
  • Other Agencies:
    • VTA: Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority
    • C/CAG : City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County
    • SFMTA : San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency
    • SFCTA : San Francisco County Transportation Authority
    • MTC : Metropolitan Transportation Commission
    • Caltrans : California Department of Transportation
  • Local Bicycle Advisory committees
  • Bicycle Advocacy groups
  • Community-based organizations
  • Caltrain bicyclists

Schedule:
Development of the plan started in January 2007 and is continuing through the end of the year. The plan is expected to be finalized in spring 2008.
