Take Public Transit to the 2013 Burlingame ArtzFest

Leave your car behind and take public transit to the Burlingame ArtzFest on Aug. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Burlingame. Along with a variety of musical acts and entertainers, more than 150 vendors will participate in the free festival, offering unique artwork, jewelry, sculpture, clothing, accessories and gifts.

On Saturday, ArtzFest will hold a “Blues Summit” at its main stage, featuring talented blues bands like the Delta Wires, the Kevin Russell Band and the Eugene Huggins Band. The “Blues Summit” will be the first of its kind at ArtzFest, which is now in its 21st year. ArtzFest, which is expected to attract thousands of festival-goers, will once again showcase talented performers from “Burlingame Idol,” while offering up activities and rides for children.

Although it has traditionally taken place on Burlingame Avenue, this year’s ArtzFest will be held at Howard Avenue, which is just a short walk from the Burlingame Caltrain Station at Burlingame Avenue and California Drive. Caltrain offers hourly weekend service making all local stops between San Jose and San Francisco. SamTrans bus lines 292 and Route ECR also serve the area.

About Caltrain: Owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, Caltrain provides commuter rail service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed 28 consecutive months of ridership increases, surpassing more than 50,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad will celebrate 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor by 2019, reducing diesel emissions by 90 percent and adding more service to more stations.
