Ride SamTrans, Caltrain to Sunset Celebration Weekend

Help preserve the western life-style exemplified by Sunset Magazine by taking SamTrans or Caltrain to the annual Sunset Celebration Weekend at the magazine headquarters in Menlo Park Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celebrating ”why we love the west,” the event features an outdoor living house with different concepts for décor and furnishing, as well as garden ideas, crafts, food and cooking demonstrations, music and more.

Sunset Celebration attendees can take a free shuttle from the Menlo Park Caltrain Station to the event.

In addition to SamTrans Routes 296 and KX, the new weekend ECR serves a stop on El Camino Real that is just a half-block from the Menlo Park Caltrain Station. The ECR operates every 20 minutes most of the day between the Palo Alto Caltrain Station and the Daly City BART Station.

Caltrain offers hourly weekend service at Menlo Park in each direction during event hours.

About Caltrain: Caltrain is owned and operated by the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, a partnership of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, the San Mateo County Transit District and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. The commuter railroad provides service from San Francisco to San Jose, with limited commute service to Gilroy. Caltrain has enjoyed 28 consecutive months of ridership increases, surpassing more than 50,000 average weekday riders earlier this year. While the Joint Powers Board assumed operating responsibilities for the service in 1992, the railroad will celebrate 150 years of continuous passenger service in 2014. Planning for the next 150 years of Peninsula rail service, Caltrain is on pace to electrify the corridor by 2019, reducing diesel emissions by 90 percent and adding more service to more stations.

About SamTrans: The San Mateo County Transit District is the administrative body for the principal public transit and transportation programs in San Mateo County: SamTrans bus service, including Redi-Wheels paratransit service, Caltrain commuter rail and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority. Caltrain and the TA have contracted with the District to serve as their managing agency, under the direction of their independent boards.
