Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: Aug. 10 to Aug. 16, 2013
Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: Aug. 10 to Aug. 16, 2013
Construction
San Bruno Grade Separation Project
Day work will be done from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. This week, crews will install lighting at the project site and pave Walnut Avenue. Crews also will continue painting the exterior and install utilities at the Sylvan pedestrian tunnel.
Night work will occur Sunday, Aug. 11, to Thursday, Aug. 15, between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. this week. Crews will be working on the San Mateo and San Bruno bridge platforms. There will be some construction noise, but crews will work as quietly as possible.
Road work will continue this week with the street closure for San Mateo Avenue. Construction crews will continue excavating and removing portions of the roadway to lower streets and allow for greater vehicular clearance under the crossings. Once completed, the clearance for the intersection will be approximately 15 feet. Due to unforeseen utility issues, the road closure schedule has been pushed back one week. The following is an updated list of road closure times and dates:
- San Mateo Avenue, between Huntington and San Bruno avenues, will now be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.
During the closure, Caltrain will establish detour signs for pedestrians and motorists to help with traffic flow. Night work will be done in accordance with Caltrain and city agreements and ordinances. All closures have been coordinated with emergency services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues. A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue. Work on this project will not disrupt Caltrain service.
